SVN access Instructions, Commit Policies, and Tips     6/18/2003

This is a preliminary information, summarizing the new repository and committal policies there will be better and more useful instructions added to rainbowportal.net and confluence over the next few days.

If you have any questions about access, or anything feel free to contact rbAdmins@rainbowbeta.com which is a shared email by a few of the admins taking care of the rainbow repositories.

All of the repositories can be found here and accessed anonymously

If you are a current Rainbow developer and want to receive commit access. You can email rbAdmins with your desired credentials ( user/pass/email ), it is also good if you tell them what your previos developemnets in rainbow have been as well as what your current is, this way they can add this info to the current list of contributers the team is trying to organize for both past and present developers.

Already migrated are 1.5 release edition, dev ( current development ), as ell as all the extensions.
Over the next couple of days, rbAdmins and beta team will be arranging documents on rainbowbeta.com with svn info and instructions as well as offer a working tortoiseSVN for download. Again if you have questions or issues, rbAdmins@rainbowbeta.com has plenty of ansers for you on how to get set up properly.

Dev Repository

Public access development area. This code is never guaranteed to compile or be stable. Any interested rainbow developer may user this repository to develop their feature enhancements of add on’s. Anyone can get access to this repository by sending a request to rbAdmins@RainbowBeta.com. Anyone will be able to get commit access to this reposoitory.

Test Repository

When developers feel they are ready to pass their code into a more organized submission, where their code can be checked and tested to make sure minimal issues are addressed such as Use of esperantus to localize modules, or use of basic error handling, as well as smooth installs and updates to ensure backwards compatibility. To receive access here you will be pointed to an RB guide by the rbAdmins@rainbowbeta.com. This guide will server to answer any questions or issues you may have before making your first commits to the the solution repository or above. This is merely to ensure communication with the team so that the team is no aware of code working it’s way up into release solutions.

Staging Reposotiroy

This solution has been somewhat tested and is moderately stable. This solution is a way for people to preview up coming rb features and enhancements. There is no Support on this or any solution below it in rank. This repository is to serve a few purposes.
It will be mirrored online at rainbowbeta.com so that the dev’s can get some initial public feedback and comments on usability, any bugs or issues that made its way through test. Also to ensure that documentation is created for anything new that is supposed to make it to release. The beta solution is considered to be stable enough to run on RainbowBeta.com however do to no support and early stage testing it is recommended not to be used in mot users commercial sites. Please remember it is still beta.

Release Repository

This is the same solution that you will find in the Zip, and is what you would receive in the result of using the msi installers. This is the recommended path fro most users and certainly for any production sites. Only the team leaders and project managers will make final decisions of what is part of the core, some components might be more suited to be offered as optional added value downloads thourgh the web sites.

NewGenesis Repository
